Ball Valves for Tight Shutoff in Commercial and Industrial Service

Ball Valves

Ball valves use a rotating spherical closure element with a through-bore to provide bubble-tight shutoff in both directions. Compared with butterfly valves, ball valves offer lower pressure drop at full bore, tighter sealing at higher pressures, and better performance in on/off cycling service — at a higher cost per valve, especially in large diameters.

G & A Valves International supplies floating and trunnion-mounted ball valves for commercial and industrial applications, in sizes from DN15 (1/2") upward. Maximum stocked sizes vary by valve type and pressure class — confirm availability on your valve schedule.

Product range and specifications

Floating ball valves (threaded, socket-weld, flanged)

  • Sizes: threaded and socket-weld ends are typically stocked in smaller diameters, flanged ends in larger diameters — confirm stocked size ranges on your quote.
  • Pressure ratings: typical ratings include PN16 / PN25 / PN40 and Class 150 / 300. Available ratings vary by size and body material — confirm per-size ratings on your order.
  • Body materials: forged brass bodies (typical grade CW617N per EN 12165 — confirm grade stocked), carbon steel WCB, stainless steel CF8 (304) / CF8M (316).
  • Ball: stainless steel 304/316, with chrome-plated brass and other trims available on request — confirm trim options.
  • Seats: PTFE / RPTFE (standard, −29°C to +180°C — always check your media against the valve's pressure–temperature curve).
  • Stem: blowout-proof stem designs available on most models — confirm on your valve selection.
  • Ends: female threaded ends in NPT (ASME B1.20.1) or BSPT (ISO 7-1) — specify thread standard on your order; socket-weld; flanged ends drilled to EN 1092-1 (PN) or ASME B16.5 (Class) — confirm drilling on your order.
  • Operation: lever handle with locking device option; ISO 5211 top-mounting pads available for direct actuator mounting — confirm on your model.

Trunnion-mounted ball valves (flanged)

  • Sizes: typically DN100 (4") and above — confirm stocked size range on your quote.
  • Pressure ratings: commonly Class 150 / 300 — confirm available ratings on your order.
  • Body: cast body options commonly include carbon steel WCB and stainless steel CF8/CF8M — confirm body materials stocked.
  • Seats: PTFE/RPTFE seats with spring-loaded seat design on selected models — confirm on your valve selection.
  • Standards: engineered for pipeline-style service — ask us about API 6D-compliant options for your project.
  • Fire-safe: fire-safe configurations built to API 607 fire-test requirements are available on request — ask about certified fire-safe models for your project.
  • Operation: gearbox handwheel; bare stem or actuated.
Typical lead time: stock sizes ship from inventory; project and made-to-order sizes typically require several weeks — confirm lead time with your quote.

Applications

  • HVAC and building services: brass and stainless ball valves for isolation on heating/cooling circuits, with lockable handles for maintenance lockout.
  • Water treatment: flanged ball valves for chemical dosing lines (PTFE seats resist aggressive chemicals); stainless bodies for corrosive environments.
  • Compressed air and utilities: threaded ball valves for plant air, instrument air, and general utility isolation.
  • Process lines: carbon and stainless steel flanged ball valves for on/off control — share your media and service conditions and we will confirm material compatibility with our manufacturing partners.
  • Fuel and oil (commercial): ask about fire-safe certified options for fuel and oil service in commercial applications.
  • Oil, gas & petrochemical: trunnion and floating ball valves for tight shutoff on process and utility lines in refineries, terminals, and petrochemical plants — ask about fire-safe certified options and confirm pressure class and materials on your quote.

Why buy ball valves from GA Valves

  • Parts supply: PTFE seats, seals, and handles stocked as spares — rebuild instead of replace.
  • Assembly: actuated packages assembled and function-tested before shipment; limit switches and solenoids fitted on request.
  • Training: hands-on assembly and maintenance training for your team.
  • Project support: sizing assistance, material selection, and documentation packages (material test certificates and test reports available on request) for contractor submittals — confirm what documentation ships with your order.
